Instagram based workout plans

Social media has steadily increased its presence in our everyday lives. We now relay on social media platforms to stay abreast of latest news, connect with our friends and loved ones as well as follow latest trends and our favourite celebrities.

Humans are very visually driven and instagram is a very visually driven social media app, making it very popular social media platform today.

It is a fantastic tool that enables you to check out your friends latest pictures on their travel adventure or your cousin’s engagement ring. However, recently I have noticed many of my clients tend to get caught up in the targeted advertising offering latest fitness product or a workout plans. Alternatively, coming back to our session inquiring if the latest workout posted by Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock is something we should try during our session.

Please don’t get caught up in the latest fad, training or diet. Your diet and training plan should be personalised and fit in with your lifestyle and training goals. Just because something looks glamorous and might work well for someone famous does not necessary mean it will work for you or would be safe to follow.  Personal trainers have a duty of care to make sure your workout plan is based around your current fitness and lifestyle needs as well as takes in to account your medical history.

It easy to get caught up in the latest trend and it might be something that may work for you but you need to make sure that you are at a fitness level where you can safely follow the latest trendy workout and that it will be of benefit to you.

Just like any industry, the fitness industry is constantly evolving and adapting to the populations needs, introducing new fitness techniques such as suspension training or redefining old fitness equipment like kettlebells.

Please make sure you get appropriate advice before ascertaining your workout plan from a personal trainer, physiotherapist or general practitioner. Please don’t use instagram or other social media platforms as your advisor.
