Sedentary now? Your health might be suffering later!

Do you feel like going to the gym is too hard and time consuming? Do you think that the local bootcamp is just too physically intense? Well good news is that a body that is moving and active is what really matters and not just participating in the one or two intense physical activities during the week. Remember it’s a accumulative physical activity that really counts and a change in your sedentary behavior.

In the last few years, scientists have shown that sedentary behavior, like sitting all day in the office is a risk factor for earlier death.  A number of studies in 2015 have shown that hours spent sitting or inactive are linked to increased risk of Type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, even if participants of these studies participated in the regular physical activity.

One study even went as far as putting fitness trackers on more than 1,000 adults in their 70s and 80s who were limited in how much they could move around. Participants who logged the least physical activity had the highest risk of a heart event in the next 10 years, but surprisingly moving just a little bit more during the day was enough to lower the risk of a heart disease.

It seems that just by modifying slightly sedentary behavior can have a direct impact on your quality of life in the future.  Just doing more chores around the house, trying to avoid sitting down for prolonged periods of time, even fidgeting a little bit more while sitting in the office chair can help to dramatically reduce the risk developing of a number of serious health issues.
