Good personal trainers need to take a holistic approach to personal training, with the emphasis on the clients overall fitness goals. Large percentage of the Australian population tends to spend majority of their day in the office engaging in very little physical activity. When designing any workout plan, personal trainer must ascertain client’s goals but also strengths and weaknesses. Thus, workout plan should incorporate, improving balance, flexibility, muscle tone, core strengths, and posture, as part of working towards overall clients desired fitness goals.
Personal training implies that each workout plan will be designed for and unique to each individual client. However, too often personal trainers take short cuts or do not have enough experience to manage each work out plan to suit various clients’ needs. Big fitness chains tend to be the biggest culprits of this practice, simply due to the large volume of the clients that personal trainers working for the big chains tend to manage.
Sydney personal training industry has seen major expansion over the last 5 years. Many personal trainers use Sydney’s great outdoors to train their clients. Sydney councils have been introducing increasingly stricter policy on the commercial use of the public space. While many people find Sydney personal training in public just providing another service to the local community, some perceive them as nuisance.

People always use their age as an excuse why they can’t physically push themselves, why they fail to achieve same results as someone younger. Reality is as you get older it is harder to physically push yourself to that next level. However, we should all take a page out of Jack LaLanes book, father of modern concept of fitness. Aged 45 Jack decided to promote his TV show by completing 1,000 Jumping Jacks and 1,000 Chin Ups in just 1 hour and 22 minutes.
Well known for his feats of strengths, at the ripe age of 54 Jack LaLane competed against young unknown bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger. Badly beaten by Jack LaLane, Arnold exclaimed “That Jack LaLane is an animal”.
To quote Jack LaLane “Living is a pain in the butt. Dying is easy. It’s like an athletic event. You’ve got to train for it. You’ve got to eat right. You’ve got to exercise. Your health account, your bank account, they’re the same thing. The more you put in, the more you can take out. Exercise is king and nutrition is queen: together, you have a kingdom”.
Age is only a factor if you make it so!
In the short term, very low carbohydrate diets can result in greater weight loss than high carbohydrate diets but, in the long term, weight loss differences appear to be minimal. Very low carbohydrate diets risks can be unhealthy if too much animal fat is consumed and if plant foods are overly restricted. The long term safety of these diets is unknown.

Kettlebells have increasingly become popular within fitness community and now can be found in most Australian gyms. Kettlebell is a great piece of fitness equipment, forcing to engage your core and used in a predominantly functional training. Meaning that you will work a number of different muscle groups within each exercise. However I would strongly advice for anyone just starting out to avoid using kettlebells. One first must develop strong core and be comfortable in perfuming more basic exercise, prior to progressing to the more advance exercises using kettlebells. While, it’s great fitness equipment, when used incorrectly can cause severe lower back and shoulder injuries.

Sometimes you decide to go workout with a buddy and after a couple of weeks your buddy disappears. You find yourself in the gym full of people doing exercises, and maybe you feel a little self-conscious about how your body looks. Sometimes you need a personal trainer to give you the confidence that you need and at the same time look out for your health and mental welfare.
The personal trainer knows the exercises that are right for you. They will look at your body size, your exercise history, and your personal medical history to help decide which regiment of exercises. Often it is better to have a personal trainer with you when you exercise than a close friend or relative. The personal trainer will give you an objective opinion without trying to guard your feelings or give you complements when you don’t deserve them. A personal trainer will instill confidence in the person exercising and can also give words of encouragement as you reach goals that you might have not been able to accomplish without them.
